SIDEKICK

Ok the music industry is really pissing me off. Somebody makes some money on one person then everybody wants to shove a bunch of carbon copies down our throat. Ok so this chick can sing and she can dance but wtf she looks like a damn Ciara carbon copy mixed with a little bit of Tearria Marie. C'mon I don't work for the industry but it doesn't take a genius to figure out the market for the young pretty solo r&b female artists is WAY TOO FREAKIN SATURATED!!! It's time to start giving the people something different. Hello you see Rhianna tried to go that route too and switching it up saved her career. I'm not saying everybody should go the same route she did cuz then i'll get sick of that. But what I'm saying is think of something different for christs sake! I doubt this chick is gonna last very long and the fact that this dumb song gets no kinda of airplay is already an indicator of that.

EVERYBODY KNOWS

I really dig John Legend's album Evolver. The reason I didn't put it on the blog is because by the time I realized how great it was it was too late to try to tell people. It had already been out for months. I'm glad he picked this as his second single. I really like this song. The video is cool too. The again there are so many good songs on that album I don't even think it's possible for him to pick a wack single. I haven't liked a John Legend album this much since Get Lifted (and believe me I loved get lifted).

WICKED COOL STYLE: KATY PERRY

Once again I know a lot of people may not agree with me but I dig Katy Perry's style. I always loved the vintage look even before Christina Aguilera started to bring it back in style. Katy does the vintage pin up thing very well. It's fun and flirty without being slutty. I love it!

RANDOM THOUGHTS ON THE THE GRAMMYS (IN QUESTION FORM)

  1. Am I the only one that thought it was unfair that so many people got to perform twice? Give somebody else some stage time! Sheesh!
  2. What the hell was goin on with Kanye's hair? Was that a cross between an afro and a mullet?
  3. Wasn't Katy Perry's fruity performance outfit so cute? Doesn't it remind you of Chaquita bananas.
  4. Doesn't Miley Cyrus sound horrible live? What was she thinking performing with somebody with an actual voice? It only makes her sound worse
  5. Why the hell were those Jonas Bitches even nominated? I hate those dudes!
  6. Isn't it a shame that Chris Martin from Cold Play gives a better show than Jay Z? Seriously that guy has like no kinda stage presence.
  7. Am I the only one who's been bored with the Grammy's for like 3 years straight?
  8. Isn't it crazy how Jennifer Hudson doesn't even look like she just went through such a terrible tragedy? That is one strong and beautiful woman.
  9. Isn't it crazy that MIA decided to perform the day she was due to give birth? Was I the only one that was scared the baby was just gonna fall out right there on the stage?
  10. While we're on the subkect of MIA wasn't that some interesting maternity wear she had on?

THINKING OF YOU

Very happy to see Katy Perry release a single that isn't so gimmicky. Though I don't think hot and cold was that gimmicky I kissed a girl certainly was. But I dig this song and I dig the video. I like when artists show real emotion. Also did the vintage vibe of the video. It matches the way she likes to dress. I dunno if anybody noticed but Katy Perry loves to rock the vintage pinup look. Also the video kinda echoes a Madonna video as well. I'll give you a hint on which one it is. I did a thursday throwback on it a while ago.

If you still haven't figured out the Madonna video I was talking about it was Take a Bow. Take a look.

THURSDAY THROWBACK: WITH ME

Ok does anybody remeber the second single off of Destiny's Child's first cd? I know everyone remembers no no no but this song didn't get as much airplay. I remembered it cuz I loved the video concept. Every chick was a different fantasy. Look closely Solange was in the video too. It's called With Me and it was released in 1998.

Didin't catch solo? Look again she's right around 3:14

EYE CANDY THEME: SALVADOR DALI

Robert Pattinson is gonna play Salvador Dali in the movie Little Ashes. That's how I first heard about this guy. Then I saw one of his paintings in a book of art and it sparked my interest even more. This guy's work is so bizarre but insanely interesting. People could talk about them for hours just trying to figure out what the message behind the paintings are. Very cool.

AMERIE TAMI CHYNN FOLLOW UPS

I know I did posts on Amerie and Tami Chynn last week but I have more to share.

First up is Amerie's second single off of her third album Because I Love It (which wasn't released in the states). Dig the song and the video. Think I'm gonna cop the import for this cd.

Next up is Tami Chynn's latest video Frozen. I'm guessing she's signed to Konvict now and she's gonna be going towards an r&b vibe. That's cool I guess. She definitely has the look to go pop and has a way better voice than Rihanna. She can give Rihanna a run for her money as top Caribbean queen. HOWEVER... she can't do it with song. It's cool but not cool enuff. And sheesh I guess 80s fashion has come back with a vengeance.
