To be honest I really didn't expect them to go ahead and make 8 whole Harry Potter movies (Deathly Hallows is gonna be split into two parts for those who don't know). I didn't think that people were really gonna go to the theater and see theses same old kids (and I use the term kids loosely) 8 times. I really thought they were gonna stop at 4 and call it a day. But lo and behold here goes the trailer for HP6, Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince. Now this movie was supposed to come out on 11-21-08 but all my fellow TWERDs (twilight nerds) out there know why that isn't happening. For those of you that have been under a rock it's because Twilight bumped HP out of that release date. Though I'm a huge Twilight fan I'll always have a soft spot in my heart for good old HP. Though I still think the movies have gone downhill since the original Dumbledore died and since they keep switching directors and since they stopped sticking to the book, I fully intend to continue supporting them. The new release date is 07-17-09. Six down two more to go. Here's the trailer
P.S. For those of you who didn't read the books and rely solely on the movies. I decided not to spoil the ending for you. Though I did see it in the trailer. Prepare to wait in agony for the last two movies because the ending of this one is gonna leave you dying to know whats gonna happen next. It might actually make you wanna pick up book 7 instead of waiting for the last 2 movies

WICKED COOL STYLE: T I
Now I usually don't pay attention to guy style. I find men's fashion boring simply because they don't have as much to work with has girls. We have all kinds of shirts pants dresses skirts hairstyles accessories and makeup combinations to try. Guys don't wear dresses, guys don't wear skirts, and guys don't wear make up (not counting drag queens and cross dressers of course) so they have a lot less variety. So it's huge to come across a guy that's so stylish that I think "omg I wanna dress my boyfriend just like him!". Who am I talking about. None other than T.I. He's stylish without being to outrageous (like Kanye West). Plus he's versatile he can look hood or he can look suave. Plus he also happens to be one of my many celeb crushes (yes I'd definitely hit that). Take a look.

REHAB
So RiRi has a new video and I thought it was strange because I been hearing this song on the radio since last year. I wasn't expecting her to make a video so long after. Well it's official good girl gone bad now has 7 singles. Most albums only make i to 4 if it's really good. It's a huge accomplishment. I think she could've did more with this particular video though. She doesn't look tortured enough. She had the chance to really get creative with this video but she didn't. She really should've put more effort into portraying a stormy relationship but instead it looks more like her and Justin Timberlake playing dress up. I'm kinda disappointed.

HEARTLESS
So Kanye has a new video. I find this strange because it feels like love lockdown just came out but whatevers. It's interesting. I can see where he drew inspiration from but we'll get to that in a minute. Watch the video first.
Heartless from kwest on Vimeo.
Now as soon as I saw this video and heard the subject matter of the song i instantly thought of Tupac. Still don't get the connection yet? Take a look at this video from way back in 1997.
Also did anybody catch the Andy Warhol reference? For anybody who doesn't know Andy Warhol is a famous artist that drew his inspiration from pop culture. Most known for his painting of Marylin Monroe...
... and Campbell's Tomato Soup
... and the soup makes an appearance in the Kanye Video around 1:41. Take a look again just in case you missed it. So lemme go on record and say I love the video because it gave me something to think about. Even though he's annoying as hell when he starts running his damn mouth I always love Kanye for giving me something to think about.

LATE AS HELL
I don't know why it slipped my mind to stop by jibjab.com this election year. They always have my favorite satirical music videos. Check out the video from 04.
Then there was the bush video they did in 05 when his approval rating started to drop.
I don't know how it slipped my mind to look for something on the 08 election but I found it. I know i'm late but whatever better late than never. It's still funny. Take a look.

THURSDAY THROWBACK: BLACK VELVETEEN
So this lovely song is off of Lenny Kravitz's 5th album 5. It was released back in 1998 but the video for this song was actually made in 1999 I believe. Why do I love it so much? Why did I choose to make it my very first thursday throwback? BECAUSE IT'S AN ODE TO THE CHOCOLATE STARFISH BABY!! Listen to me guys of all races out there. Lenny knows what he's talking about. The phrase is not only true for black men but black women as well. Once you go black.....well you know the rest. Here's the video.

FUNHOUSE
I only bought one pink album. It was her first album Can't Take Me Home. That was back in the days when they were trying to market her as an r&b singer. I didn't like it. I thought she was talented but I could tell it wasn't real. When artists don't feel their work it tends to come out corny. I never bought a pink album since. Even though she was doing the kind of music she wanted to do on her own terms I just didn't like the singles enough to care about the rest of the albums. I always had a tremendous amount of respect for her though. I loved her rebellious spirit and the fact that she was an individual. Anyone who knows me knows I'm a big advocate for individuality. So I decided to take a chance on Funhouse. I dig it. I don't really have an explanation as to why I dig it. I just do. I love the cover art too. My favorite song is the title track. I'm always partial to songs I can dance to.

ANIME & MANGA FOR FOODIES
First off for those who don't know the difference anime are the Japanese animated series' and manga are the Japanese graphic novels. This particular series comes in both forms. It's called Yakitate Japan. It was the first manga series I ever got into and I thought it was interesting because it was loosely based on fact. It's about a kid that wants to create bread that is uniquely Japanese called Ja-Pan (get it? pan as in bread?). Anyways what I mean by loosely based on fact is that they actually have cool facts about baking that most of us never knew. I'd definitley recomend it for all the foodies out there. The books look a little something like this.

IT'S ALL ABOUT CHOCOCAT!
Has anybody noticed how celebs are becoming obsessed with hello kitty? Observe....

For Christs sake Darth Vader can't even get enough.
I'm all for Japanese cuteness but it's freakin sickening. I tend not to like things when they're overly cutesy and super popular (like high school musical and hannah montanna. as a matter of fact i hate the whole disney channel). So hello kitty does not make my list of cool things from Japan. I prefer to rock hello kitty's not so popular buddy chococat. Thats this little guy.
He's cute but not overly cute and over exposed like hello kitty. So if anyone out there wants to join the hello kitty rebellion wear chococat. He's so much cooler. Take a look.

Don't you wanna go buy some chococat gear?

HOW COME NODBOY TOLD ME CHRISTINA HAD A NEW VIDEO?
I'm very upset about this. I've never been one to idolize female artists. Yes I've admired a lot of them for different reasons but there has never been one set female artist that ever made me say, "I love her so much! I wanna be just like her!". HOWEVER Christina Aguilera came pretty close. She's the only female artist I can say I've truly loved through the years. I've always supported her music all the way from Reflections to Keeps Gettin Better and she still has yet to let me down. I even sang I Turn to You at my jhs graduation and Reflections at senior recognition night in high school. With that said I'm very upset I haven't seen this new video on tv yet. She premiered this song on the vmas back in sept and I just happened to wonder why the hell I haven't seen the video yet and decided to look it up on you tube. What the hell is up with that? I see Britney Spears every five seconds. That sucks. Anyways here's the video for Keeps Getting Better.
Christina Aguilera - Keeps Gettin' Better [OFFICIAL VIDEO]
I love Christina but isn't it ironic that she's right back to the pop image she tried so hard to get away from. It's not exactly the same pop image she started with but still a pop image none the less.

SHE GOT HER OWN
I definitely dig this vid a lot better than Miss Independent. I love how ne-yo respects and celebrates women. More male artists need to do that. And it's also great to see Jamie Foxx in music again. I was starting to wonder what happened to him. Haven't heard anything from him since dj won't you play that girl a love song.
And the cool thing about this video is you can play a nice game of spot the celebrity cameo! Ready? Here goes?
- Teyanna Taylor
- Jill Marie Jones
- Eve
- Estelle
- Keysha Cole
- the twins from atl (you know the movie staring ti and evan ross. i don't remember their names)

RANDOM THOUGHTS ON ROBERT PATTINSON
So I listened to the twilight soundtrack and came across a few songs by Robert Pattinson. I had no idea Robert Pattinson could sing. Not only that he plays piano and guitar as well. His singing voice sounds nothing like his speaking voice. I would've never guessed it was him. I like his voice it kinda reminds me of John Mayer a little bit. So I came across this one song in particular called Never Think. Like I said I take nothing away from his musical talent. He's very talented and the song sounds great but....what in the living hell is he saying? I can only make out like every other line. It kinda reminds me of somebody talking in their sleep. You know they're saying something but u can't really make out exactly what it is. Here's what I'm talking about.
Anyhooz while we're on the subject of RPatz, I snagged a copy of the latest entertainment weekly.
It has interviews with Rob Pattinson and Kristen Stewart. And interesting comparisson caught my attention during Rob's interview."Still this past July when the cast participated in a hype- building panel at the Comic- Con festival, all Pattinson had to do was smile or shift in his seat to send the thousand of besotted girls into fits of red- faced screaming. After the panel, the shaken actor bruised some tender hearts when he likend the sound of the collective squeal to something one might hear while entering 'the gates of hell'."
Ha! I'm really starting to like this guy. I like that he doesn't always have neatly prepared sugar coated answer for things. I get the vibe that he just says whatever the hell he's thinking at the moment. He doesn't act like you're average heart throb. He just acts like the guy from around the corner. Here's more of what I'm talking about. Pay particular attention when they get to 58 seconds.
He really said good. That was too funny. But what I really like is that he didn't apologize or take it back. I always love people who aren't always nice because it shows they aren't fake. Now once the movie is released Rob is probably gonna have even more screaming teenaged girls after him but I really hope he doesn't loose that honesty once his heart throb status is solidified. That's what makes his interviews almost as entertaining as his movies.

WICKED COOL STYLE: TEYANNA TAYLOR
I dunno why the hell she's famous but I love her style. It's hard to dress hip hop and still look girly and cute but she does it well. Lil Mama tries and looks horrible. Somehow Teyanna Taylor pulls it off.

PAPER TRAIL

I just got TI's paper trail. I was pleasantly surprised. I always like TI but I never liked him enough to actually buy an entire album of his. I'd usually just download whatever singles he had out. I didn't think I'd be able to listen to a whole TI album. I figured it would be boring but I took a chance on paper trail and it didn't disappoint. TI actually shows a lot of maturity that I never knew he had.
He isn't just rapping about bitches and hoes and money and clubs. He's actually saying something of substance (well sometimes at least). Unfortunately I can't say he's above the constant bragging but then again I still have yet to find a rapper that is. You can already see said maturity in two of his singles (No Matter What and Live Your Life). Here it is in writing just in case you never really listened to the lyrics.
The hooting and the hollering, back and forth with the arguing
Where you from, who you know, what you make and what kind of car you in
Seems as though you lost sight of what's important when depositing
Them checks into your bank account and you up out of poverty
Your values is in disarray, prioritizing horribly
Unhappy with the riches 'cause you piss poor morally
Ignoring all prior advice and fore warning
And we mighty full of ourselves all of a sudden, aren't we?
It's loaded with guest appearances and usually when that happens it makes people thing you need tons of guest appearances to sell your album but I don't think this is the case. I like this cd and I'm proud of how far TI has come since I'm serious. Here's my favorite song of the cd....and yes I purposely picked one that didn't have a guest appearance. Like I said he got it by himself.
And since we're already on the subject of TI the video for Live Your Life is finally out. I've been waiting to see what this video was gonna look like ever since they premiered the song at the mtv vmas. This video would make a more entertaining movie than ATL lol. Here it is.

IT'S BRTINEY BITCH!!
I don't know why Brintey is in such a rush to make a huge comeback. She's a freakin legend. I personally think she should take herself a nice long break to get her shit together and worry about the comback later. Her die hard fans (*cough* chris crocker) will still be here for her when she's ready to really put her all into it. I think she should just go to desert island and shut out the world and forget about fame for a few months. But hey to each his own. Here's the video for her new song womanizer. It's definitley not her best. We all know she's way past her prime but at least it's better than Gimmie More. And at least she has her body back.

CONGRATS

I usually don't post twice in a day but I had to do it. I had to say congrats to the hottest fashionable awe inspiring presidential couple the country has ever seen. I've never felt so proud to be an American in my life. I'd never thought I'd be able to say in my life time that the first lady rocks a perm just like I do. But on a more serious note he said yes we can...and guess what? We did! And now it's time to do more. We can't fix it all in one term but I'm confident we're gonna see progress in the next four years. I have faith in you Barack! Congratulations.
P.S. For those of you who remember my first post ever on this blog don't throw out ur Obama shirts. I won't. Store em someplace safe. We're gonna have to pull em out again in four years. This isn't over yet.

BUST YOUR WINDOWS
I like Jazmine Sullivan. I think she's pretty. She actually can sing (unlike most chicks with record deals). And she doesn't have stereotypical beauty but she's beautiful none the less. I think she looks fierce in this video. She's really stylin. I love the giant red hoops. I'm really diggin this song too (yeah i know I shoulda said that first instead of talking about her fashion but hey fashion is important too). Anyways here's the video. Who doesn't wanna bust the windows of somebody's car every once in a while?

RANDOM THOUGHTS ON TWILIGHT
Oh lordie I have a new obsession. Out of curiosity I decided to read the first book in the Twilight saga...Twilight. I really wanted to know what all the fuss was about. Now I know and I've been sucked into Twilight mania.
I was reluctant to read it at first because I've never really been into vampires. But this is so much more than just another vampire book. It's one of the sweetest love stories I've ever read. This is a huge compliment coming from me because I'm not that big of a fan of love stories. I usually think they're unbearably cheesy.
Now that I've read the first book and the partial draft of Midnight Sun (that's Twilight from Edward's point of view for those who don't know) I can offer my theory as to why it's so popular with us girls. It's simple. We can all relate to Bella Swan. Of course I don't mean we've all fallen in love with vampires before. But what girl hasn't fallen madly in love with a guy that was totally dangerous and wrong for her? What girl hasn't had to make the choice between heart and logic and chose heart? I know I have.
The only downside to this book is that I'm afraid it has the potential the ruin a girl's life. Unfortunately it's another reminder that real life love stories are never as exciting as this. It might even have you wishing you had a vampire for a boyfriend lol. I'd definitely recommend it to all the hopeless romantics out there.
The movie also looks promising for those of you out there who aren't much into reading. Here's the trailer if you haven't seen it. I wasn't originally feeling Robert Pattinson (he played Cedric Diggory in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire for those who don't know) as Edward Cullen but he grew on me. He does a good American accent and his portrayal of Edward seems close enough to what I imagined when I read the book. Kristin Stewart seems like she's gonna be a perfect Bella Swann though.
I'm very excited to see how it's all gonna turn out. And I'm excited to read the sequel New Moon (yes I know I'm late and it came out years ago. sue me! lol). I'm not gonna read it right away though. There are only four books in the series (unlike the Harry Potter serious which had 7 and i had to wait years in between the last few books) and I don't wanna rush to finish. I know I'll be sad when it's all over.
By the way the soundtrack for the movie comes out today. I think I'm gonna get it. I've heard a few songs from it and it sounds great so far. Paramore's Decode has been in heavy rotation on my ipod. Here's what it sounds like.
I don't buy soundtracks often so this is huge news that I'm actually gonna buy this one. It seems like Twilight can do no wrong can it?

PATRIOTIC PIE
One of my co workers brought in some home made apple pie and ice cream to share with everone. I was the only one with an American flag plate. It just looked so patriotic. You can't get more American that apple pie vanilla ise cream and an American flag plate. I had to take a picture.
I love it when food looks artistic.
By the way it's election day 2morrow peoplez. Do you know who ur voting for? If you don't you better make your mind up fast.
