RANDOM THOUGHTS ON GQ

So I'm sure a lot of you have heard about or seen the September 09 GQ cover featuring the man of the hour, Mr Michael Jackson. I'm also sure most of you have heard about the Jermaine Dupri twitter controversy pertaining to said GQ cover. Here's the story if you haven't read it.

Apparently JD is pissed at the headline of the supposed article, "When Michael was cool" and the headline "Before the Weirdness Claimed his legacy...". He claims those headlines where disrespectful back handed compliments and it's a bullshit tribute.

I do agree with JD. The entire article (not just the headlines) wasn't much of a tribute. If you want to honor the king respectfully it would be best to leave his weirdness out of it. But in defense of GQ, it wasn't like they were lying.

But disrespect aside this article (or it's pictures rather) did make me realize something. Michael was a pretty snazzy dresser back in the day. I know it sounds like I'm 1,000 years late. I know Michael's BEEN known for his iconic fashion. I'm well aware of the fedora, the glittery military jackets, the aviator shades and of course the single sequined glove. But I'm talking about Michael's fashion before all that.

Michael's been a damn good dresser since day one. Look at these fashionable pics from his teens and early 20s. (btw the mute button is on the top left hand corner. i couldn't really figure out how to take off that damned ashley tisdale song)
